Rhythmic Expressions of the Heart | by Tze Hui Lee Nov. 06, 2010 | $4.00 | 8423 words | Sample 10% |
| Author bio: Born in 1989, I was inspired by the works of Shakespeare and started writing poetry at the age of 10. As a passionate poet, I'm constantly adding new life to my little 'poem pad'. The sources of my inspirations are as diverse as salt and water! Sometimes, a drastic world event or personal ordeal fires up my soul and my pen would start scribbling my thoughts and perspectives on the issue. During less passionate moments of my life, inspiration can come in as ordinary and mundane a form as a piece of paper falling to the ground or the rhythm of my dad's train-like snoring and even how rocks and plants seem to move and grow while meditating. |

101 Politically Incorrect LIMERICKS | by Gary Kuyper Oct. 21, 2010 | $0.99 | 18229 words | Sample 15% |
| Author bio: Gary Kuyper began his professional literary career writing self-help and general interest articles for Daan Retief Publishers who produced a monthly book for their woman’s club called Woman’s Forum. These articles would sometimes require research and had titles as diverse as The Human Brain and Body Painting! Being a professional photographer on a part-time basis Gary has also managed to have his articles on photography (With accompanying photographs) published in books and magazines. He has also done some free-lance photography and photojournalism projects for numerous local newspapers. Over the past four years he has constantly managed to be one of the top finalists in the Nova Short Story Competition (A competition for budding writers of science fiction and/or fantasy). Last year (2009) Gary had the pleasure of seeing The Devil's Little Tadpoles grace the pages of the local SF & Fantasy Fanzine Probe. He is an avid film buff and amateur film maker. A few years ago I managed to take first prize in the SA Ten Best Film Makers Competition with a short film entitled The Crimson Cobra - An action-packed martial arts / superhero movie using some of the very talented local artists. He is a qualified prosthetics make-up artist and has used this talent on both amateur and professional productions. He has also appeared on television in a youth program especially made for enlightening people in the art of special effects make-up. Gary has a rather excellent general knowledge being not only an avid writer but reader of any material that is able to stimulate him cerebrally. He taught himself Adobe Photoshop and has become adapt and proficient enough at utilizing the software to such a degree that he has managed to sell a number of creations to various institutes and organizations. He is particularly fond of a logo designed for the Krazy Mug Coffee Shop and several covers that have graced the front of Probe. Gary has a vast knowledge of music and has appeared on the local Television Music Quiz Show Note for Note where he was able to win a substantial amount of prize money. In 2008 he entered the SF / Fantasy Mini Radio Play Competition and took first prize with his The Adventures of Captain Max Power of the Intergalactic Police - an obvious homage to the early Flash Gordon radio series’. A number of skilled professionals are now planning to produce Max to CD and have it aired on a local radio station (SAfm). All his literary and photojournalistic accomplishments have been done on a part-time basis due to the fact that his full time career is lecturing mathematics as well as engineering science at a Technical College. Although this is a most fulfilling profession, it has long been Gary's ideal to become a full-time writer – especially of fantasy, science fiction and horror novels. He has recently published his first full-length fantasy novel - The Chronicles of Baltrath: The DARK WIZARDS. As a considerable amount of time and effort has been expended in building the world of Baltrath, Gary has begun work on a sequel to The Dark Wizards. |

Cryptic Armature: Verses in the Manner of.... | by Michael R. Collings Oct. 19, 2010 | $0.99 | 11695 words | |
| Author bio: I am a professor emeritus of English at Pepperdine University in Malibu CA (although my retirement home is in southwestern Idaho). During my twenty-seven years at Pepperdine I taught everything from Freshman Composition to Advanced Grammar to Business Writing; from Survey of English Literature to Milton and the Epic; from Introduction to Creative Writing to Senior Seminars in Writing. Along the way, I discovered the joys of writing, not just to meet requirements for graduate degrees or to insure tenure, but for myself--saying things in a way that might make my thoughts more interesting for readers and thereby invite them back into the books I talked about. Most of my academic writing relates to authors I love: John Milton, the great 17th-century English poet, on the one hand; Stephen King, Orson Scott Card, Piers Anthony, and additional science fiction, fantasy, and horror writers on the other. But my real love now is creative writing: novels, short stories, and most especially poetry. My offerings range from the three-line haiku found in Tissue Promises to a 6,500-line epic, The Nephiad. And everything in between. Please let me know what you think at my website: http://www.starshineandshadows.com/ |

Happy Fat Children and Protein Enhancers | by Tom Duckworth Oct. 05, 2010 | Free! | 1936 words | Read a sample |
| Author bio: Tom Duckworth is 22 years old and lives in Exeter. He found that writing poems provided one of many ways to avoid revision for his final University exams which was when most of his work was written. Tom is a fan of the American comedian Demetri Martin, and his poems were largely inspired from having seen Demetri in his brilliant 2003 comedy show entitled ‘If I’. In the end Tom did pass all his exams (…nearly) and graduated with a degree in physics, a real mans degree, yet still couldn’t find a proper job. Crazily, he decided it would be a good idea, for now, to stay in academia and currently works researching physics at the University of Exeter. You’ll often find him in a darkened room playing with green laser light and a camera to take pictures of it. |

The Birth of Taliesin The Bard | by Richard Britton Oct. 05, 2010 | Free! | 2309 words | Read a sample |
| Author bio: Richard is a poet by blood, as well as a theologian and semiotician. His poetry is neo-romantic, gothic and arabesque. He firmly believes in the role of the poet as a reformer as well as a performer and that poetry can change the world, but not in the way we necessarily expect. Richard actively resists the crypto-fascism of today’s western society, but finds popular culture a great medium through which the sublime can percolate. He is a great admirer of Byron, Keats, Plato, Aristotle, John Ruskin, Matthew Arnold and St. Paul of Tarsus. Richard often gets lost in his own little microcosm, but he loves poetry because it has protected him from deep melancholies, like a guardian muse. |

A Quizzical Verse: Limericks Comic and Not | by Michael R. Collings Sep. 22, 2010 | $0.99 | 3132 words | Sample 35% |
