Girls Like Me: A Book of Modern Poetry by Teri Louise Kelly Girls Like Me: A Book of Modern Poetry by Teri Louise Kelly March 13, 2010 $2.99 10357 words Sample 10%
Author bio:
Even God makes mistakes. True enough. Tiny little screw ups that can occur in utero, or beyond . . . small shit like chromosomes going awry and the magic hormone fairy forgetting to do her damned job after a heavy night on the juice. Sure, no big shit, get over it – grow some balls, maybe some facial hair, and get drinking. Teri Louise Kelly managed all three in her previous human incarnation when as a surly young tearaway in London, England, she served 'his' time at one of Elizabeth Regina's juvenile detention facilities for wilful destruction of public property, resisting arrest, and assaulting a police dog at a football match. Confused? Well, join the damned club. After muddling through as a 'cute' but rather lippy boy, becoming a chef and traveling the globe, he finally became 'she' in Australia. A strange place to do it for sure, but then again, way down there in the big sandy desert, no one can hear you scream, and, even if they do – nobody gives a wombat's ass. After all of this, out of the cocoon, emerged Teri Louise Kelly, who quite suddenly, decided 'she' could write. And why not? There were worse aspirations – so, she did. Her first book – 'Sex, Knives & Bouillabaisse', (March 2008) set in the swanky rat-face infested bowels of luxury hotels, earned her critical acclaim in Australia's mainstream press – not bad for an untrained chick with a uh . . . yeah, you get the picture. Following on in March 2009 with the sleazy reminisces of a low-rent lfe with the novel 'Last Bed On Earth' (six-months in the lice-riddled backpacking industry in Christchurch New Zealand), Teri Louise Kelly started to earn herself a reputation as a fast-talking, even faster-writing, Bukowski-eque with boobs figure. Obviously, she waved away such comparisons, claiming instead in a major interview that she was, in fact, Hunter S. Thompson reincarnated. Whichever she is, or indeed isn't, what remains, is a style that is simultaneously outlandish, candid, and brutal in its literary execution. Stormtrooping into the poetic genre this year (November 2009) with the release of her first poetry anthology 'Girls Like Me', Teri Louise Kelly has delivered a first-up assault on the flowery genre which will either stand, or fall, merely on its content. Never one to shy away from a fight, from speaking her own mind, or doing exactly what she feels is right – Teri Louise Kelly's latest work 'American Blow Job' pretty much extinguishes any mainstream or alternative media fantasy about transgendered writers avoiding their 'pasts'. She currently lives in a holding tank about forty-five clicks of an undisclosed Australian location where she is under heavy sedation and taken out in disguise each day to attend 'happy hour' and gladhand a few numbnuts.

Early prize-winning writer (prize U.N.S.L, 1974) born in Argentina, during many years standing aside from literary activity, began this century with a copious production and is recovering from past silences. He likes to read, loves dogs and a good glass of wine -in addition to his family and friends. At present, he spends his time writing and cupping specialty coffees. The author’s voice skirts the limits of poetry, brief tales, and micro essays. With humor, irony or passion, he does not intend to teach anything; just provoke at most. His colloquial register recalls a conversation among friends, deploying a unique style, with distant accents of the River Plate region.

Spiritual Metamorphosis by Alessandrina Lerner Spiritual Metamorphosis by Alessandrina Lerner March 23, 2010 $4.95 5780 words Sample 10%
Author bio:
Alessandrina Lerner is the author of four books. All 3 of her Poetry books, "The Essence of Love" (Sep'09), "Spiritual Metamorphosis" (Feb'10) and "Have You Seen My Childhood" (Mar'10) are adorned with beautiful illustrations made by the author's daughter, a precocious 10-year old Artist, Amandine Love Lerner. Alessandrina's poetry does not only use the poetic imagery and innate musicality of words but also aspires to take the readers on a journey to the core of themselves through inspirational poems of a meditative nature. Alessandrina is also the author of a novel, "Spiritual Enlightenment in the Age of Cybersex" (Dec' 09), a comedic spiritual gem which introduces Spiritual teachings with humor and a real urban flavor, making them accessible to a modern, and maybe a little less spiritually inclined crowd. Alessandrina Lerner has been writing poetry since she was 8, and wrote her first short novel when she was 12. Though she left her childhood dreamworld, obtained an MBA in International Finance from French Ivy league University Paris IX- Dauphine, and went on to pursue a high profile career in the world of International Finance, Alessandrina never forgot her true love and kept cultivating a passion for writing all throughout, continuing to write poetry and short stories as a hobby, whenever time allowed. Traveling to over 55 countries in the context of her career, she fulfilled the explorative part of her dream, yet found herself seeking more meaningful experiences to further nourish her soul. Motherhood pushed her further in that direction, propping her to quit her job and start training with a Spiritual Indian Master to become a Yoga Therapist, now her primary occupation since 2001. Having grown increasingly passionate and talented in the Art of inspiring others through Yoga, Alessandrina decided to take it to the next level by going back to her roots and honoring her true essence by dedicating herself to writing. Since writing books seemed like the most logical step to disseminate the spiritual knowledge she has acquired on her journey, Alessandrina has decided to embrace her new path with love, dedication, and the greatest hope for the future. Alessandrina is currently working on a number of literary projects, including children books, a spiritual movie script, a Yoga manual, and sequels to her first novel. She has many other artistic projects in the pipeline, which she hopes to be able to fully dedicate herself to in the coming years.

My Biosphere My name is Ian, in England born My father’s from the islands, my mum’s from that shore My youth was spent fleeing xenophobic bores. I traveled to Athens and Timbuktu I bathed in Alhambra, Granada too I could never shake my brooding school. My American wife dragged me here My stepdaughter in toe, a brand new sphere My opposition to the states to five years to clear. I started again, from scratch in haste I stared to relearn a new verb, chase I started to learn a new action, waste. My endeavors were positive though painfully slow My dues well paid, eventually did grow My overnight success took many moons to glow. I now serve the public civil and clean I now work the markets and international scene I now have great credit and a labyrinth machine. My writing before covered prose and essay My heroes are Baldwin, Sojinka and Sesay My novel attempts include travel and jazzy. I read like a fish that swims in the night I spend more on books than I have such a right I meditate, cool out, and stay UN-Tight. My dreams are to learn the heart of the word My hopes are to chase that winged bird My endeavors I pray are to teach and be heard. I live in Oakland, city caught in a lie I dwell in environs of many colored eyes I inhabit a space of love and deep sighs. My time here now is eight years plus My memories of home are short and cussed My life’s irony is to be an English fuss.

Prior published works include 2002’s “Escape Velocity” (mercifully out of print), and 2005’s “Look at What America Has Done to Me” (on its 9th printing – it’s just that good!). He’s performed for the president of the American Communist Party and has broken bread with Republican lawmakers. He believes in God, the 1st Amendment, and the Bermuda Triangle, and once performed a poem outside the White House gates under the watchful eyes of Secret Service snipers.
