I was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio in a large, working class, Catholic family. I have been writing for most of my life, but more intensely for the past several years (about 250 poems per year, more or less). My poetry seems to be focused on the natural beauty that surrounds me (which I notice more and more every year) and my Catholic faith. My favorite writer is Thomas Merton. I hope you like my work and will let me know either way!

Les Études - The Elements: Fire by Oluwatosin Ojumu Les Études - The Elements: Fire by Oluwatosin Ojumu April 24, 2012 $0.99 1364 words Sample 20%
Author bio:
My full name is Oluwatosin Oreoluwa Ojumu. I am a born again Christian writer, blogger and webdesigner. I write under a few different pen names, some of which are variations of my own name. Under this name "Oluwatosin Ojumu", I write mainstream (non faith-based) contemplative poetry and literary fiction. My poetry is mostly inspired by nature, and art, and beauty, and themes of memory, imagination, time, consciousness and explorations of other abstract concepts. I am currently writing a range of "Études" or "Studies" based on some of these concepts. My fiction is largely based on and inspired by existing classic works from great authors like George Eliot, Charles Dickens, Jane Eyre. Under "Tosin Ojumu", (the shortened version of my first name) I write mostly Christian material. I am producing an open translation of the Bible (New Testament) called "The Open Bible". I also write articles about my opinions on various Church and Christian matters, and I maintain a blog about my expectations and hopes for Christian marriage called "Finding Mr Huggie-Wuggie". This is also the pen-name I use for other non-fiction, including opinion articles about issues unrelated to my faith. Under my middle name "Ore Oluwa" I plan to publish works about creative arts and crafts - hopefully coming soon! I also plan to publish a few works under completely anonymous pen-names....! ;)

Dreaming of Kittyland by D.C. Blackbird Dreaming of Kittyland by D.C. Blackbird Jan. 27, 2012 $0.99 1344 words Sample 20%
Author bio:
D.C. Blackbird is an American poet, songwriter, and author, along with being a world-renowned adventurer and traveler to places that stamp passports with bark and tree sap. In case you never heard, D.C. is one of the world's greatest feather & leaf jugglers and has performed this great skill before Royal Courts throughout Europe as well as in diners throughout New Jersey between snacking on corn muffins. You probably know that D.C. is the best-selling author of titles that include: Jekyll Says … (Good Deeds Cats Do, That You Should, To!), Jekyll Says More! (Lessons & Trends For Felines & Friends), and Dreaming of Kittyland, but there is more to this remarkable human being, so please don’t just judge D.C. by the pretty words. Blackbird is one of “those vegans” you have probably heard about and maybe you have even seen hanging out at health stores ordering wheat grass juice. But don’t worry! D.C. does not glow in the dark (except after drinking grape juice), but veganism IS contagious. You have been warned. Oh, yeah, and D.C. is also one of those animal-loving folks that cares for dogs, cats, birds, and runs into traffic with a cardboard box to save turtles in the middle of the road. If you ask nicely, D.C. Blackbird may be available to come to your home for Roasted Tempeh and Marzipan treats. But the main stuff you are interested in is that D.C. is dedicated to telling stories about awesome experiences and adventures with cool earthlings around the world, and teaching readers to be compassionate to all living beings, while promoting and encouraging goodness, civic virtues, high principles, and values.

Blessed by my sickening thoughts of the dreary life that I have lived through the years, this curse has taught me much on how to express the woes from deep below my skin rather let myself tear me apart as I could spiral down and become disorientated by the world around us, more than it does — at it’s best. Like the finest wine, there’s a tendency to bleed it dry to the last drop until the flavour leaves my tongue burning with the flavour.

Writing is a new skill for me. It's only over the past few years that I started keeping anything I wrote down. Slowly I noticed that I was sort of writing prose. I finally put them together and noticed the themes and have discovered that I really enjoy writing. Unfortunatly most ideas come while I am riding or working in the wood shop. I use my phone to get the idea down and hope I don't forget or lose my thoughts.
