Conscription

The boys wanted to stay at home

From their families they didn’t want to roam

They didn’t want to enlist

To be part of the military fist

But they didn’t have a choice

No one would listen to their voice

So they were forced into conscription

Into a life with no description

In this new life they were a number

Everyday they were treated dumber

For two years they were enslaved

And everyone had to be brave

Off into battle they had to go

What would happen, they didn’t know

If they would ever return back home

Or die upon the battle foam

Q-Ship (Decoy Ship)

The Q-SHIP was in the convoy

As a coaster it was disguised

If they didn't spot the u-boat

It could signal their demise

The seamen were enlisted men

With guns upon the deck

Hidden in the deck cargo

So the Germans wouldn't suspect

This decoy worked well

Saving many lives

Of the innocent seamen

Brings England’s supplies

Remembrance Day

Round the cenotaph they all do stand

With a wreath in their hand

To remember all the fallen

Who on the battlefield lay sprawling

Those men died in two world wars

They were brave right to the core

Every one of them did take heed

That their country, them did need

Their homeland they did protect

As the wars did it affect

On the land, sea and air

They fought the enemy to their lair

We must always stay proud of them

For everyone was a gem

Each one of them we should salute

As they have taken the heavenly route

Submariner

Every man and boy is brave

But its not notice that they crave

As they go about their daily chores

They never really find life a bore

Up to three months underwater

Never a chance to see son or daughter

They even travel under the ice cap

Every detail they always map

Every man is fully trained

More than one job is ingrained

They all know how to fight a fire

For the consequences be dire

Every one's happy with their post

Even when it's far from the coast

For their country they protect

As any enemy they can detect

The Passing In Parade

Out on the parade ground

Stand all the fine young men

They have done their training

And they know all of the gen

Their parents are watching proudly

And they all want to shout

That one of these fine young gentlemen

Was once a local lout

Then the troop is marching

They’re all in stride

They want to show the uniform

That they now wear with pride

The parade is finally over

And the troops can join their kin

Then off to celebration

Because the training they did win

They've now got some leave time

Before they join their boat

To spend with friends and family
