DEDICATION

This book is dedicated to the children,

to the innocent who suffers.

I dedicate this to all who have survived abuse,

to all that found the strength

to stand on their own,

to speak out.

It's dedicated to the all too numerous

whose cries were never heard

or were ignored.

To those that are still locked in their pain,

To those that didn't survive.

Every one of us deserves to be recognized.

Every one of us,

Whether we spoke out or suffered in silence,

Have a strength others cannot know.

1 DREAMS

I close my eyes

And soar the skies

To find where I belong

Dreaming of a place

Where I won’t be told I’m wrong

When I speak aloud my dreams

And let my feelings show

When I make my own path

Not follow that same old road

A place where people will see me

The way I truly am

Not some phony character

Created in their minds

Just to make them feel at ease

Like it’s simple times

2 FREEDOM!

My spirit soars

With the joyous voice

The wondrous cry of Freedom!

For your hold over me

Is finally gone

Leaving my spirit Free

You took me from the heavenly fields

Of childhood’s innocence

And locked me in a personal hell

Of your own creation

You took from me all life’s joys

You took away my Freedom

And claimed the role of master of my soul

My life was filled with misery and pain

But now my soul is Free

For your hold over me

Is finally gone

Leaving my spirit Free

I saw you again the other day

I felt no fear of you

For evil’s weak and can be beat

I’ll fear you Never more

I felt no anger and no pain

For instead I felt a wondrous peace

My spirit finally Free

Life ended when you took away

Childhood’s innocence

But with a strong will --

And the help of great friends

I am reborn again

My spirit soars

With the joyous voice

The wondrous cry of Freedom!

For your hold over me

Is finally gone

Leaving my spirit Free!

3 SEAN

Wallowing in self-pity

At the loss of the life

Of the one I love

Full of bitterness

At the God that could take

My love away

I see a pattern emerge

Of love and hate

For every time I love

And it’s taken away

I despise the world

For my pain

Now I find I cannot

Treat his memory that way

For his love is too precious

To drown in my hate

He was the innocent rebel

A warrior of just

Never harmed a soul

Who didn’t threaten first

He was the guiding light

In the shadow

Of the valley of darkness

A soldier of Right

He fought for the light

The romantic angel

He took my hand

Lifted me up

From childhood’s pain

And fears long ingrained

He opened my mind to trust

Taught my soul to love

He gave freely of himself

Never forced his hand

He let old wounds heal

Always at my side

Never pressing

For me to drop my shields

Content in the knowledge

That love would win

Life left his body

Just recently

But his spirit didn’t go away

I feel him beside me

Watching over me

As I live my life

And let new wounds heal

He waits for me today

Content in the knowledge

Of eternity

4 THE ALMIGHTY MAN VERSES THE SAVAGE BEAST

People hunt just for fun

Animals hunt for food

People kill the animals

Just for what they eat

People say they own the land

Animals live with the land

People kill the animals

Just for how they live

People pollute the land

Animals keep it clean

People say that they protect

And kill the animals

People take the animals as pets

Animals must live in fences

People say that they protect

And kill the animas for living

People think that they’re almighty

Rulers of the world

Yet they kill the land, animals and themselves

And say they’re doing right

Animals just live their lives

Do only what it takes to survive

Don’t kill for fun or for revenge

And live a peaceful life

So tell me now

Who is it that wins

The almighty man

Or the savage beast

Yet can anyone win

In this world today

With the almighty man

Having his way

The savage beast

Man hunts in a game

While he eats the animal

He raised in a cage

Will the almighty man ever realize

That he is the savage beast

Nothing more than another animal

Led by instinctive needs

Only one difference stands

Against the almighty man and the beast

One’s a little more civilized

That one is the savage beast

5 ARMOR WALLS

People think that I’m strong

I don’t let others pain bring me down

And no one can make me cry

But that’s just an act I put on

To hide what’s inside

You could watch me everyday

Not a tear would show

Nor fright or pain upon my face

No matter what went on

Yet when you turn your back

And no one’s looking

Sometimes I’ll break down my armor walls

And let my feelings show

When no one is around

They say everyone needs a shoulder to cry on

But I can’t do it that way

The only shoulder I can cry upon

Is the late night and early day

6 EXISTENCE

The state of the world

We exist upon

People seem to share one thought

They seem to think making sixty-two

Is better than death at twenty-six

Even if you just exist

Instead of living the time
