dream of me

please dream of me tonight.

i know you have her in your arms

i know you have her on your mind,

but just for this one night,

please,

dream of me,

only me, tonight.

i don't know what i'm looking for,

i don't know what i want,

but,

somehow, somewhere,

you're always on my mind,

it's impossible i know,

to ask you,

to think of me,

love? me?

and i'm too proud,

too scared,

too vulnerable,

to ever ask, or tell…..

so, i'll dream of you instead,

as i always do,

and wait,

for my dawn, someday,

with you……

need

i need your love,

i need your hate,

i need even that scornful gaze.

just don't pass me by

a shadow on a wall

a footprint on the sands

washed off by the waves

make me sin,

make me pain,

even the most desolate rain

of your unshed tears

just not an unseeing glance

an unsung song

an unplayed melody

at your fingertips forgotten

make me cry

make me hurt

even shrivel me up inside

just don't give me the smiles

that darken your eyes

the warmth that leaves me cold.

your kindness, so cruel...

your soft, sweet words

that rip and bite and tear

down to my bitterest bones

give me your nightmares

your darkest thoughts

your deepest fears

the worst secret in your heart.

scream, shout, hit me even

lash out and break me

just spare me,

the false light in your eyes

your toxic laughter

your pity,

parading as love,

leaving me praying,

selling my soul,

a void in return……

forgetting all the while

who i was,

filled with the silence,

that is now my soul.
