URBAN UTOPIA

Gum grinds in the pavement like glitter

And dog shit smells like warm coke.

The statues are freckled with gem stones,

And there’s no more disease from cigarette smoke.

Gob on the pavement grows flowers,

Graffiti expletives don’t stick.

The fucked-up lamp posts are just flickering stars

Showing pavements devoid of fresh sick.

My mind lives in urban utopia,

Such a shame that it’s just in my head.

What I’d give for a world that was slightly less crap,

As I’d much rather live there instead.

Preach!

Eyes wild, arms held wide;

“Our Lord God cometh soon!” He cried.
