Ripples Spread So Silently

See Luke 10:30-37

Drop a pebble from a bridge

to see the ripples show.

The circles seemed so small at first,

but soon began to grow.

The ripples spread so silently

upon their chosen course.

The circles widened as they spread

from just one lowly source.

Love is like those ripples...

by showing that you care,

You touch the lives around you,

here, there, and everywhere.

George Washington Carver

See John 15:13

A humble man named Carver

spoke to the Lord one day.

Would God explain the mystery

of why we’re made this way?

He waited for an answer,

but when no answer came,

He asked the Lord to show him how

the peanut was arranged.

He analyzed the structure,

moved substances around,

The resins, starches, fats and gums,

whatever could be found.

The South received a blessing

from this most humble man,

And God revealed the secrets

this man could understand.

The Setting Sun

See Ecclesiastes 3:22

The last rays of the setting sun

proclaim another day is done.

The creatures of the night now prowl,

quite wary of the watchful owl.

Another day has come and passed;

the memories we have will last.

What have we seen? What have we done?

Were we of help to anyone?

The time we call today will pass,

and we must make each moment last.

The time is given for your good.

Do you employ it as you should?

You have the choice to take each day

and use it in a fruitful way.

It’s really up to you and me

to reach potentiality.

The Message of the Dogwood

See John 3:16

The dogwood is a symbol

of life, costly, yet free,

The never-ending love of God

portrayed at Calvary.

The petals help us think about

the Cross that Jesus bore.

The center is a symbol

of His crown of thorns.

Pink is a depiction

of the mingled flow

Of the blood and water;

for He loved us so.

Look closely at the petals

to see the gentle stripes.

He died for our transgressions

to bring eternal life.

Jack Frost

See I Corinthians 12:1-11

The field was just an ugly brown

the day before the freeze.

Jack Frost lent his magic brush

to paint it as he pleased.

Tiny crystals caught the light,

a sight to please the eye.

The frost embraced both twig and blade.

“How beautiful,” we sighed.

Our Father up in heaven

can take the bleakest soul,

And then impart the needed gifts

to make life rich and full.

Ripples In the Water

Toss a tiny pebble into a placid lake,

see the perfect circles that the ripples make.

Ripples are created where good deeds are found,

starting with one person, spreading around.

Why not be resourceful? Help someone today.

Start the simple process; do it every day.

Bless another person, they’ll reciprocate

like ripples in the water that stretch across the lake.

Shadows in The Forest

See Joshua 1:5

Shadows in the forest, leaves upon the ground,

gentle breezes stirring; the peace of God is found.

Where the sun is shining, shadows will be born.

At the brightest moment, darkest shadows form.

When our hearts are troubled, and the shadows fall,

let’s recall God’s promise, not give in, stand tall.

“I will not forsake you,” is the Master’s word.

Face the tribulation; take God at His word.

God has sent His Spirit, and the light has shone.

We are never orphans left to fend alone.

Yes, the light Is shining ‘though the shadows fall.

God will keep His promise, help us through it all.

A Great Cathedral

Sedona, Arizona

No painter born could capture

Sedona’s majesty,

The monuments of stone aligned

in quiet dignity.

They look like great cathedrals

constructed in red sand.

Linger while you contemplate

the beauty of this land.

The staggering dimensions,

the brilliance of the sun,

The subtle colors of the rock;

our great respect is won.

According to the natives,

this place is sacred land.

We pause in reverence to view

The Great Creator’s hand.

Scenic Overlook

You stand upon the mountain

this bright and lovely day.

Three states lie in the distance,

their borders far away.

They call this mountain, Cake-out*,

but why, few can recall.

Be careful where you place your feet.

It’s a long way to fall.

The view is just fantastic,

the air so fresh and clean.

The forest is so tranquil,

the leaves so bright and green.

The trail, not far behind you,

is ready for you now.

Reluctantly you shuffle.

“I will return,” you vow.

Cake-out Mountain is located near

Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania.

Get Busy. Don't Look Down

See Philippians 3:7-14

The storm that came that early spring

had knocked a bird nest down.

It lay there on the littered path,

its eggs splattered around.

It saddened me that all that work

was wasted presently.

I gathered up the broken nest
