Invisible Sound

Black smoke bellowed out from the top

Smoke stacks blowing out chemical sop

Around the clock it’s the machine’s operators

Work up on seventy foot high steel elevators

Security guards keep out the insane

While the night crews work all the grain

Public address systems calls for names

On the edge of town children play games

Dogs cough and birds fall from the sky

While the elderly women say, “Oh my !”

Grocery stores sell bags of plastic gloves

The ugly pigeons were once pretty doves

Marblehead

Upon the peninsula of Lake Erie

The waves beat against the shore

And up along the water’s edge

A noisy giant seagull soars

A lighthouse in the distance

Flashes a bright light

Among the rocks the lighthouse sits

To protect ships that sail at night

Viewing Cedar Point from there

You can see the roller coasters

Marblehead is the name

Of the lighthouse that is on the poster

Deer Creek Overlook

Sitting on top of Deer Creek Dam

The best this side of Birmingham

Down below people are fishing

Others are watching and wishing

A child plays on the jungle gym

We are many feet over top of him

Vehicles below look like Matchbox cars

We watch visitors drink from Mason jars

People are climbing up the other side

It is like a State Park nature ride

Now they are rolling down the hill

However, just walking down is a thrill

There’s a water skier on the lake

Deer Creek Dam took years to make

It’s really peaceful on the grassy wall

If the hill was steeper, we’d have to crawl

A Birthday Picnic

Sunday afternoon out by the lake

Sitting here eating a birthday cake

Quacking ducks make a lot of noise

Flying through the air with great poise

Hamburgers are now sizzling

Soon the embers will be fizzling

Sun shining here at Rocky Fork

We’re eating beef instead of pork

Our picnic table is at a no wake zone

Hold on while I answer the phone

Behold the area of skunk and muskrat

Across the road is a black cat

Down by the gorge are green frogs

Taking turns jumping over the logs

Song birds singing about raccoons

Overhead floats a purple balloon

We relax and snack on peanuts

His pole fell in the lake, what a klutz !

E.L. Fudge cookies on a full stomach

I ate too much; I think I’m gonna be sick !

Finagle at an Angle

The picnic tables are out of line

But the ones by the grill are fine

A woman parks her car strange

She walked by us humming ”Home on the Range”

The grill wasn’t placed in straight

We’ll use it anyway, it’s getting late

Oh what a sight for tired eyes

No more policies telling us lies

A family of four walked thru the leaves

While blowing is a nice breeze

A half moon shines from above

Kids are on swings shouting, “Give me a shove !”

Brats are cooking and ready to eat

Little Debbie Snacks are always a treat

It’s getting dark, but the sky is clear

This is our last cookout this year

The Racing Butterfly Of The Sea (Part 1)

In the year nineteen ninety-two

While listening to music of Adrian Belew

A scientist named Alfred Fultzenmier

Started an experiment with his assistant Mr. Pryor

They wanted a special breed of insect

One that is pure and didn’t infect

An unusual butterfly with speed

An open space is all it would need

One larger with a longer life span

Longer than any known to man

The achievement came one afternoon

They stopped and stared at the cocoon

While emerging form the chrysalis

When it broke through was anyone’s guess

A bright shiny pupa twice its size

Stretching its wings towards the skies

Came forth a multi-colored butterfly

Soaring through the sky so high

Colors of red, orange and green

The most beautiful butterfly you’ve ever seen !

Destination : The Roaring Twenties (Part 1)

We returned to the motel room

Turned on the TV and cranked up the volume

Something happened within a half an hour

We found ourselves in a field of wildflowers

Imagine seeing a new antique car

The sight of it was quite bizarre

Just before the stock market crashed

People were spending their hard earned cash

Cabin 13

For two nights in October

We could have picked April or September

We kept warm over a fire ring

Remembering camps where we used to sing

Cooking pizzas and cherry pies

The s’mores were a nice surprise!

Until we had a fearful visitor

A skunk was blocking the path to the stairs

By nine-thirty we were inside

Our evening cut short , so upset we could cry

Having a cup of coffee on the couch

We saw a commercial with Oscar the Grouch

Tomorrow we will repeat the day

But we hope the skunk stays away!

Guess what? He came back earlier than before

Krissy made a beeline for the door

Hold on to Thursday

Borrow a few ice cube trays

Munch on chips by Frito Lay

Then go bowling the following day

Find a few arcade games to play

Perhaps an iced capp supreme later

And watch a video of Terry Fater

It’s just another trip to Seneca

In the heart of North America

Chorus : Hold on to Thursday

For it won’t last

It will end anyway

Time will go by awfully fast

Get a good night’s sleep tonight

Tomorrow it’s the crowds we’ll fight

Spring is bursting with sunshine

And everyone is feeling fine

It’s only a breath of spring

But enough to make you wanna sing

Furthermore. .we like the attraction

And looking at everyone else’s reaction

Take a stroll through town

A dress shop window displays wedding gowns

We enjoy the environment up north

As they celebrate Easter on April fourth

Repeat chorus :

Between Three Points

Settled between a tower and a point

A place where we can rest our joints

In a lodge up near Sandusky’s lake

Hopefully this will be a good break

Now waiting for the sun to set

The blended colors will be pretty I bet

Adventures across Bay View

The water was a nice shade of blue

One sixty-three aims to Marblehead

Perry Street is where we found our bed

Fifty-three travels to Freemont

You can see a movie there if you want

Until then I guess it is lakeside

Where you can see the Cedar Point rides

Know the city better in the month of June

When some couples take a honeymoon

Patriot Hill

Roaming the large hills to Knoxville

Traveling down the road to Sevierville

To a place where everyone comes together

No matter what the type of weather

There’s a cabin up in the woods

We took advantage of everything we could

Where one can relax and have some fun

Under the stars or in the sun

Cook out on the grill and play some pool

The food smells so good you could drool

Sleep in late if you could on Sunday

According to the song, it’s our fun day

The Jacuzzi or hot tub awaits you

Big enough for just one or two

Easing away all of those sore muscles

While listening to the fallen leaves rustle

Time moves fast while you’re in Pigeon Forge

With many great restaurants it’s easy to gorge

Cross over the Great Smokey Mountains

See water from rocks flowing like fountains
