You taught me so much,
More than you will ever know.
Your actions were louder than any words,
Your love for Jesus, heart, body, and soul.
We did not talk much,
But you always treated me kind.
My dear loving uncle,
You were a rare find.
So young and arrogant was I,
Thinking I knew what the Bible had to say.
You never tried to change me,
Telling me to stay true to the Lord every day.
You led by example,
You practiced what you preached.
Your actions taught me so much,
You had plenty left to teach.
I say goodbye dear uncle,
You will truly be missed.
I am strong in my faith because of you.
May the Lord bless you with HIS gentle kiss.
I’ve never considered myself to be a great writer, or a mediocre writer at that but poetry is where I got my start. I have tried before to express myself but it wasn’t until I was fifteen years old, trying to express how I felt to a girl who was walking out of my life, that I wrote my first poem.
I received my first kiss after that poem and shortly after I received my first real heartache, which of course gave birth to my being able to express myself through poetry. That very first poem is lost forever to time but the second poem I ever wrote is very raw and you can tell:
Who Gets The Girl
Do you know who almost always gets the girl? Well most of the time it’s the forceful guys. It goes all the way back to the caveman days. I mean the guy who said, “Hey you look really nice with that bone in your hair, would you like to have dinner with me?” never got the girl. No it was the caveman who got her by the hair and dragged her to his cave. If I’m ever to take a girl it will be by the heart and not the hair.
Like I said, raw. The poems to follow are the poems I have written since the one above. You will see how I have grown over the years. Enjoy my pain, my heartache, my dreams, all my emotions for when I write a poem I no longer think with my brain, I write with my heart..
This book is dedicated to Vanessa. If you had not broken my heart the way you did I would not be the poet I am today. Rest In Peace forever.

These poems were written while I was in high school. They are random madness spanning over four years. They are in order of when I wrote them. Joy, sadness, love, rejection, you name it, I felt it. There are little stories behind each poem as to why I wrote it but the story most often told is me writing to the faceless woman in my dreams, my muse if you will. As long as she continues to haunt my dreams I will have something to write about.
I owe you my deepest thanks. I wish there was a way I could repay you but nothing could ever show my appreciation to you. My life would have been blue if it wasn’t for you to help me out. You’ve always been by my side with your arms open wide to hold me when I need a shoulder to cry on. No matter how we may fight, you still care about me and try to protect me from harm. Well I’m glad you choose to be my best friend and my debt to you will never end.
I like everything about you,
The way you make me happy when I’m blue,
The way you drive me crazy when you comb your hair,
To one side of your face to wear.
When you turn your head to one side
It sends a shiver up and down my hide.
You look so cute
You make my lips want to toot.
I like the way your spirit by far
Is higher than any star.
I wish you could see
How much you mean to me.
But out of everything you do,
Just between me and you,
I love something that no one else can see,
That’s the way you love me.
Friends
Friends are those that care
And to you are always fair.
Friends are those that dare
And with you everything share.
A good friend is very rare
And never leaves you when you dare
To take a look at life and stare
Into yourself and find something with care.
Friends are there for you
So long as your friendship is true.
Friends are a fine thing to have
And friendship should be as gentle as a calf.
Just as the ocean is blue
Friends will always be there for you.
Without a friend you live half
Because friends are a very good thing to have.
You know how to light up the dark
The way you make me feel in my heart.
You set my heart on fire
So that I wish to give you whatever you desire
Cause with you, love is what I found
And it’s one of the world’s most beautiful sounds.
You sweep me away with your charm
That I dream of holding you at night in my arms
And when I need to cry
There’s nothing money can buy
That’ll make me feel the way you do,
Cause you take away all my blue.
I can’t go on alone
Cause I can’t make it on my own.
I’ve gotten use to you hanging around
Making me act like a clown.
You make me smile
Whenever we are together, even for a little while.
You saw the real me
And saw things no one else could see.
You seen things in me and know what they mean,
You keep me believing in my dreams.
I know I won’t find anyone as special as you
Cause you and your feelings are always true.
A woman needs to be loved and cared for
Through hard times and good, ever more.
A woman is like a deer,
Gentle and full of fear,
So she needs to know your love is near
And you will listen with an open ear.
Women have lots of class
So treat them like fragile glass,
With tenderness and care
And always treat them fair.
A woman is a precious thing
And should make your heart sing.
Who Am I
What or who am I?
Everything this question is asked I answer with a sigh,
I honestly don’t know
But I will not stop but go
Until I find out
Who I am
Even if I have to ask every Tom, Betty, or Sam.
Will you help me to ease my pain and hold my hand,
Until I find myself and fully understand
Why I’m here
But it will be easy with you here.
What is beauty?
Well it is my duty
To let you know
That it’s something that makes you glow.
Beauty comes from the heart
And he who knows that is very smart.
True beauty comes from the inside
Which a lot of people hide,
If you just look you’ll find
That true beauty is with the mind.
If asked, “Where is true beauty?” what will you do
Well you’ll say, “True beauty is inside you.”
You pick me up and take me away,
You always have wonderful things to say.
You make me feel like I can’t be beat
And you make my life so complete.
I feel like I’m in heaven above
When I get lost in my love.
You believe in all that I can do
And you make me believe in myself when you say, “I love you.”
Blessed
I could not ask for more
For I have been blessed ten-fold.
I’ve been given a good wife
To lean on and love in this life.
I’ve got a friend who will always care
And boy, is that something rare.
I’ve got children who love me
Cause I can make them laugh and keep them happy.
I don’t have much wealth
But at least I’ve got good health.
I have a family who loves
Everything God gives us from above.
So I really don’t want more
And for that I’ve been blessed ten-fold.
You’ve been hurt before
And you don’t want to love anymore
But even if you get at a real low
Please allow me to be your hero.
A hero who will love you till the end
And will always be your best friend.
A hero who fits your life like a glove
And who with you is madly in love.
Love has a hurtful sting
But it doesn’t mean a thing
To me cause I will endure the pain
As long as we’re together and stay sane.
What I’m trying to say is, “Don’t be blue
Cause no matter what I’ll always love you.”
Heart Broke
How could I have known
I would end up heartbroken?
We had good times together
That made me feel light as a feather.
But I’m glad I didn’t know
Cause you caused my soul to glow
And the time we had was fun
But now our fun is done.
I would not have missed this for anything
The world, emeralds, rubies, or a diamond ring.
I often wonder if the love I gave in the past
Would in your heart last
But now I see I was wrong
And in my mind I was not strong.
I know now not to past up a chance
To show my love in a song or dance
What I’m trying to say is I love you
And everything you do
Cause I have seen where I’ve been
And I don’t want to be heartbroken again.
Carried Away
When I’m with you I get carried away
And I don’t know what to say,
Sorry just won’t do
Cause you get carried away too.
It feels like I’m on a roller coaster ride,
Going up and down with no place to hide.
My heart starts racing, faster with each beat
And I can’t wait to meet
What our crazy love may bring,
Someday, who knows possibly a ring.
So when I’m with you it’s hard to say
What I’ll do because I get carried away.
The Couple
The couple who’s madly in love
May everything you’re dreaming of
Come true
And I wish all the best to you.
You find happiness in each other
And you love one another
With a bond that comes from the heart
And will never let you part.
You are the couple that can not fall,
You are the couple who has it all.
Control Over My Life
You can lift me up when I’m down
And you can turn my whole life around.
Cause whenever you’re mad
It makes me sad,
And when you are happy
My sadness can never be.
So you see, you can take away my hurt and strife
Cause you have a lot of effect on my life.
Crazy Love
Hey, I’m the crazy one who makes you smile
Because I always go that extra mile
To see you happy
Just like me.
I’m the one who cares about you
Cares about the things you say and do
Cause I’m a loving type of guy
Whose head is in the clouds, way up high.
I’m crazy, yes it’s true
But I’m just crazy about you.
I may be out of control
And you can bet I’ll never let you go.
I’m wild, crazy, and like to have fun
And you’re hotter than the sun
So, without a doubt we belong together
And we’ll stay this way now and forever.
We’re Different
I’m crazy and you’re not,
I look okay but you’re hot.
We’re very smart
And both have big hearts.
So as we walk through life, hand in hand
I’m so grateful into my arms you ran.
I go out of my mind
When you say your sweet lines.
You always manage to stay sane
Through everything, the sunshine and the rain.
We may be different as night and day
But our love still blooms like the flowers in May.
There’s one thing I want to do in life,
And that is taking away peoples hurt and strife.
I enjoy making people happy
No matter how hard that may be.
It does my heart good
Knowing I did all I could
To make somebody’s day
Whether they’re near or far away.
I may give someone a hug
But that’s how I show my love.
When I see someone sad
I get a little mad
But I go that extra mile
Cause everyone needs someone to turn to
So I’ll promise to be there for you.
Nobody knows how far I’ll go
And why I do it, I don’t know
But I like helping people cause that’s me
And I love to see everybody happy.
So I’ll treat people like sisters and brothers
Cause I just like to help others.
Disappointment is something everyone must face
And it’s something that everyone hates
But it makes us stronger
If we choose to accept it.
It takes us farther
Than we ever expected.
Disappointment, as bad as it may seem
Can sometimes be a good thing.
Don’t let it get to you and make you mean,
Let it strengthen you and make you sing.
So disappointment is something we all must face
But it doesn’t have to make us hate.

Little Crook
As long as you are by my side
I’ll never have anything to hide.
With each day comes a stronger love

You motivate me in a way no one else would
And do things no one could,
Like make me happy and smile with just one look

Don’t Take Your Love From Me
Please don’t take your love from me
For I love you so much I would swim the Red Sea,
Walk around the whole earth,
And for what it’s worth
I would take care of you
Cause where ever you’ll be, I’ll be there too.
I have my pride
But if you leave me I’ll be by your side.
Begging you please
Not to leave me on my knees
For I can’t live without your love
Cause you’re the only one I’ve been dreaming of.
We had a little fight
Late last night.
Things were said we didn’t mean,
And even what it may seem,
I still love you with everything I got,
And now I wish we never fought.
So I’ll sleep on the porch floor,
Outside the front door,
Because I want to be close to you,
And prove my heart true.
We could love each other a lot more,
If you let me in, to the other side of the door.
Your eyes are so beautiful and deep
That I often see them in my sleep.
I drink of your lips so divine
Because they are sweeter than any wine.
You intoxicate me
So much that I really do feel as drunk as I can be.
I enjoy wrapping my arms around your waist
And pulling you close to me without haste.
Your hair, so rich and long
Is more beautiful than any song.
Your skin is so soft and smooth
That I truly am moved
To show you how much I love you
And take away all your blues.
Your face is so soft to the touch
That it fills my heart ever so much.
I don’t know what it is you do
To drive me so crazy for you
But keep it up, no don’t you stop
Because you I value the most and put on top.

And can make or break any man.

And almost never falls.

Because it can last so long.

Because it can sweep you off your feet.
Love is kind
When you find
That love may cry or wail
But love never fails!
I’m not strong enough to make it on my own
So please don’t ever leave me alone.
You have the power to make me happy
Cause without you I’m as helpless as a baby.
I need you by my side
So I can stand tall, with you as my bride.
You bring me such great joy
That I feel like a little boy
When you say, “I love you”
Cause it tells me that we’re not through
I’ve lived my life the hard way
So you can believe when I say
That “I’ll hold on to you tight
And never give you up without a fight.”
When I think of you my heart sets a fire
And when I’m with you, you take me higher
Than anything in space
And you always make me feel safe.
When I’m with you, it’s like walking on a high wire
And I have a big desire
To run away
But I stay
Because you take me places I’ve never been,
Like having the feeling of flying with the wind.
You make me feel above everything
Cause your love is not a fleeing thing.
These feelings I have are of
You and me being so much in love
Cause I’m crazy about you
And everything you do.
As I soar through the air
My mind drifts away.
I’m in a happy place
And there I shall stay.
For when I fly
Nothing else seems to matter
And when I can not fly
Nothing makes me sadder.
It’s very peaceful,
Soothing to the soul.
And it can be very exciting
When I do loops and rolls.
I feel like a King
The air is my domain
The plane is my Queen
And together we shall rein.
Flying is my life
Without it I could not live
Flying is who I am
And this joy, to you, I wish to give.
The eagle who flies so high
High up in the sky,
Is an amazing sight to see
Flying high over me.
Its wings are mighty indeed
Long, strong, and more power it does not need
For those wings are an awesome sight
When they take flight.
It takes your breath away
Seeing that eagle sway
Back and forth, up and down
So high off the ground.
Everyone’s looking for someone to love,
Someone they can call their own.
And I, for one, have had enough
Of being on my own.
That being the case
I have a promise to make.
As I look into your beautiful face
My heart is yours for you to take.
I will always be true
And never cheat
Because I love you,
You’re so sweet.
People spend their entire lives
Searching for what I’ve found.
Even husbands and wives
Don’t have a love with its feet on the ground.
What I’m trying to say,
And sometimes it’s hard to do,
Is, don’t ever go away

I need you in my life
Because it’s so rare
To find a friend who gives a sacrifice.
You’re there for me,
You help me when I’m down.
You always have a way
Of taking away my frown.
You’ve been my friend,
Through hard times we endured.
No matter how I acted
Even if I was a turd.
You’ve stood by my side
Through thick and thin
And I’m very proud
To call you my friend.
To my best friend
Whose honor I would gladly defend
Cause you helped me in life,
Helped me to take away my hurt and strife.
When I’m in trouble you’re always there
And I know you care
About me
Cause you’re there to help me.
You stand by my side
When wounded is my pride.
I could not ask for a better friend
Who has stood by me time and time again.
Dare I dream a dreamer’s dream,
Of happiness in my life?
Dare I dream a lover’s dream,
To live with love and not strife?
If I dream for such things
Then a fool am I
Because such things
For me are set too high.
I could never have that joy
Of “LOVE” all the time,
For I am just a toy
That “Irony” plays with all the time.
I know love,
I see the joys it brings
But like the stars above,
I am meant to own no such things.
Loneliness has proven to be
My best friend,
For it never leaves me.
I figure it’s here till my end.
Rejection is a word I know
All too well.
I wish it would let me go
But because of it alone I must dwell.
I have a good heart
That can love someone true.
I’ve done my part
But I can never find “You.”
Sometimes I wonder,
If “You” really exist.
If you do then I ponder,
Do you live in a dreamer’s mist?
Do I dare to dream a dreamer’s dream,
When all seems to be gone?
Do I dare to dream a lover’s dream,
When everyone always says, “So long?”
Yes I dare,
And will endure all the pain I have to,
Because no matter what I still care
About finding that special “You!”
Dare I dream a lover’s dream,
Where nothing is as it seems?
A dream where I’ve found my true love
Sent to me from heaven above.
A dream where nothing ever goes wrong
And our love is always strong?
A dream where joy and happiness are all around
And nobody ever wears frowns?
A dream that doesn’t end at the break of day,
Where love is something here to stay?
A dream where the world revolves around me and you
And where we always know our love is true?
No! This dream is not real
Because in life “Love” is not all you feel.
So, dare I dream a dream that does not exist,
A dream that will fade away with the morning mist?
You’ve waited your whole life for this moment to come,
And now that it has, you feel you are done,
Because you did what no one else could do,
No one can graduate for you.
You’ve battled it out through school and summer,
And sometimes it felt like a total bummer,
But you didn’t quit, no you kept on,
And now that battle you have won.
So I congratulate you on this proud and glorious day,
And with a hug and a handshake you are on your way,
To face whatever the world may hold,
Because you graduated with a class that’s bold.
I see
A young girl staring at me.
She asks me with her eyes,
“Is there more for you and I?”
Leaning on an old wooden fence,
In front of houses that look broken and bent.
She hopes there’s more for her,
Like fine clothes and coats made of fur.
She wears a flower in her hair
To show she’s kind, gentle, and fair.
So she will keep staring until the time comes,
When she doesn’t have to live life as a bum.
You’re sweet and kind,
And you have a good frame of mind.
You’re always by my side,
And you give me a warm feeling inside.
I can’t wait to see you again,
Because you truly are my best friend.
I don’t need any help at all,
If you’re there to pick me up when I fall.
You’re always there to help me,
To be all that I can be,
And I thank the stars above,
That I have someone like you to love.
You’re the dream that came true,
And I don’t want anyone else but you.
You’re always on my mind,
And I’m glad I had the chance to find,
Someone so sweet,
Who can sweep me off of my feet.
I walk down life’s road,
Carrying its heavy load,
And it feels like the world is on my shoulders,
But I think about you and my troubles are over.
I just hold you tight,
Late into the night,
And think about how I feel,
And how we got a good deal.
There’s nothing in this world that can take you from me,
Cause our love is one that will always be.
So I’ll always do my part,
To let you know I love you with all my heart.
There’s one thing for certain that I know
And that is, I’ll never let you go.
I love you with my heart and soul, that’s nothing new,
I wish you could have and do everything you want to,
But I’m not a super man who can satisfy your every need,
And there will always be some things I have to heed,
Like payments and bills,
Hey, I have to take care of you when you get ill.
But your happiness is number one
And making sure you have fun.
I’m sorry to say I can’t give you the world,
A diamond or beautiful pearls,
But I can give you love and comfort,
From whatever may cause you hurt.
I said it before and I’ll say it again,
I love you with my heart and soul, and will till the end.
So you won’t ever feel alone,
I’ll write or call you in the phone,
Just so you’ll know,
That I won’t let you go,
Because my heart’s full of love,
And I thank God above,
For giving you to me,
Cause you make me happier than I’ll ever be.
It breaks my heart to see you sad,
And it really makes me mad,
Cause I care about you,
And I really hate seeing you blue.
So I’ll go that extra mile,
Just to make you smile.
So, please don’t get mad at me,
Cause I’m just trying to make you happy.
When the world comes crashing down,
And you’re filled with doubt.
I’ll take away that frown,
And show you the way out.
If you need a shoulder to cry on,
Or someone to talk to,
I promise I’ll be strong,
And never leave you.
Remember you’re never alone,
Cause I promise to never let you go.
Neither one of us can make it on our own,
Cause our love is what makes us glow.
A sweet and wonderful girl,
That is like a fine pearl.
I would walk ten thousand miles to see,
Someone as beautiful as thee.
I love to look at thee,
And your beauty knocks me down to my knee,
So that I can give my love to you,
And my heart will always be true.
Oh, how I wish I could meet,
Someone as sweet
As you are to me,
But no one is more beloved as thee.
These are my feelings of a girl so true,
Just as the ocean is blue,
And a baby is new,
I want you to know I’m always here for you.
Home can be anyplace,
Just as long as you feel safe.
Your heart is always there,
And where everything seems fair.
Home is where you want to be,
Where it’s beauty only you can see.
Home is where you don’t feel blue,
That’s why I feel at home when I’m with you.
I always do something that gets me in trouble,
And then I do something that makes it double.
Despite what it may seem,
I really don’t mean,
To hurt you in any way,
And I’m not ashamed to say,
That I’m sorry for what I put you through,
But if you only had a clue,
On how I feel inside,
You would see that I’m scared and so I hide.
My point is I’m a klutz in all I do,
But no matter what, I care what happens to you.
I have no fear,
When you are here,
Holding me tight,
Keeping me safe from the night.
I’ll act like a clown,
Just to keep you from feeling down,
Cause when you’re with me
I’m as happy as can be.
I can never live without you,
Otherwise I would be blue.
I want us to become close,
Cause I love you the most.
I need someone to love,
And you’re the one I’m dreaming of.
You know I’m sensitive and not made of steel,
I love you cause you know how I feel.
I may seem cold and hard to know,
But that was all a show,
Cause I was scared of getting my heart broke,
By someone’s mean and cruel joke,
But you proved me wrong,
With your love that’s so strong,
That I sometimes feel ashamed
Cause I acted so lame.
So I know “I love you” was hard for me to say
But you can bet your life that I meant it every day.
I missed you!
Yes, it’s true,
I missed you
And all the little things you do.
I can’t stand it when you’re not around,
And I feel down,
Wearing a frown,
All because you’re not around.
You’ve become a part of me,
And I’ll try to make you see,
That whatever may be,
You will always be a part of me.
So no matter how far you go,
I want you to know,
That even if I’m a little slow,
I will always be with you, wherever you go!
You’re important to me,
You’re a part of my life,
You’re the one thing I need,
To take away my strife.
You helped me when I was down,
And through hard times to endure.
You act just like a clown,
With motives that are so pure.
I don’t know how to describe
My feelings for you.
It’s a feeling I can’t subside,
Cause of all the wonderful things you do.
When we’re together nothing can go wrong,
Cause we’re protected by love,
A love that is strong,
And is sent from God above.
You sit there with your hair all a mess,
I must confess,
You look as beautiful as you can be,
At least you do to me.
I see things that may not be there
But that’s only because I care.
I want to love someone with all my heart and soul,
So that you will know,
How much I truly love you,
And all the little things you say and do.
Your joys and pains are mine to share,
I mean it’s only fair,
Because you’re always there for me,
To make my life happy.
I wish there was a way to show you what my love means,
But it’s not as easy as it seems,
For I may not say, “I love you.”
But I’ll always show it with everything I do.
It’s funny
Irony,
Because you expect one thing but the total opposite comes out,
And it fills you with doubt.
You start to question who you are and what you’re worth,
And you sometimes wish you were six feet under the earth.
Before it strikes you have hope,
Then you feel like a dope,
Because you believed in something that was never there,
And it doesn’t care
How bad it may hurt you
Because Irony will always leave you blue.
Like a knight in shining armor
I am a man who would fight for your honor,
Cause my love for you is strong
And will last so very long.
No one can stop my love,
For when I’m with you I feel above
Everyone I know,
Friend or foe.
I am not scared to cry,
Or even end my life, die,
For someone as beautiful as you
Who’s love for me is true.
So I’m your knight in shining armor
That without a doubt would fight and die for your honor.
The love song is something from the heart,
That keeps couples from falling apart.
The love song is something that cares,
When you and another heart share.
The love song allows the chance
For two hearts to dance.
The love song takes wing
When our hearts begin to sing.
The love song is with very few,
Only ones like me and you.
The love song never fails
Between male and female.
The love song is very rare
And is awarded to those who dare
To take one another and share
So that Love for them is equally fair.
A special kiss is not any kiss,

Life isn’t fair
And will not always give you your share
Of something sweet
Or something you think is neat.
Like takes no sides

Life has its up’s and downs,
Smiles and frowns.

Although they may not be able to do these literally
With love anything is possible mentally.

I woke up this morning
And something was wrong.

And then I got to thinking.
I looked around,
Everything was in place,
Then I looked in the mirror
With surprise on my face.
I said, “What could it be
That’s missing today,
It’s making me feel empty
In a very weird way.”
I looked around once more
And I saw I was alone.
Then it hit me,
Why I felt on my own.
I had gotten use to you
Always being near.
So now I know why I feel empty,
It’s because you’re not here.
My heart is big and full of love,
Love for the woman I’m always dreaming of.
My heart has love for other people too
But none greater than the love for you.
You can make it beat wildly
Or beat very mildly
Because your love causes my heart to rejoice
That I have no other choice
But to show you how much I care
And to promise I’ll always be there.

As we looked into each other’s eyes
Something was a glow.

It’s true; a rainbow does bring joy into my life,
But not as much as the joy of you being my wife.

I try all I can do

A woman deserves respect
And not to be decked.

I’ve been from one coast to the other; I’ve seen it all,
The Rockies, canyons, hills, and waterfalls,
But there’s one sight that still amazes me,
And that’s your beauty, oh what a sight to see.
I’ve seen the sun rise and set over mountains and hills,
And there is no way to describe how it feels,
But as breath taking as it may be,
You’ll always be the breath taker I long to see.
The ocean, strong, with the purest blue,
Its strength and beauty is no match compared to you.
The Red Woods are tall and mighty,
Yet, it’s nothing next to the love between you and me.
So I’ve seen a lot on this beautiful green earth,
And let me tell you for what it’s worth,
I don’t think I’ll find anything as special as you,
Cause words or sights could never compare to things you say and do.
She has her faults,
But one of them was not stealing my heart.
Love fills me evermore,
And she is the one I’d die for.
I don’t know why I feel this way but that’s okay,

When around her a feeling is given,

I can’t forget her for each time I try,

I hurt inside but do not know why
I have no reason but I want to cry.

I thought I saw a silhouette
Of a girl I once met.
It made me remember things I long forgot,
The memories rushed back and made me hot.
Hot with anger, hot with rage,
Hot with the things I lost with age.
The bad memories and the happy ones too,
Made me smile while I thought of you.
The silhouette I saw made me crazy
Cause I started thinking about you and me.
The way you made me laugh
The way you made me sad in the past.
Now I wish there was a way to end this pain
But the silhouette is making me go insane
