June 2009 "Writer of the Month"

"Dragonlady" Author Added: 2009-05-31

June 2009 - Writer of the Month: Gretchen Steen, is literally the "DrágönLady". Born in Wilmington, Delaware October 30, 1952, she was the oldest of three children. She lived most of her life in the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania area, until 2002 when she moved to Pensacola, Florida. She began to write as a teenager and always had some "crazy story" to tell. Her high school composition teacher, Mr. Delzingaro was her first inspiration. He told her she should continue but she laughed at him and shelved her ideas for many years.

Gretchen was married and has two children, Justin Daniel, now 27 and Chelsea Amanda, now 21. She has one grandson, Jack Daniel who will be 2 this October.

Her daughter writes some and is in her third year of college. Her son has Gretchen's artistic talent for drawing and painting.

Gretchen's book, "Drágön Spawn" started as a goof, but turned out to be something she now would like the world to see.

Gretchen says "I'm a regular person, just like all who will read this." "You don't know what you are capable of until you try and then you will surprise yourself."…” an unforgotten quote from my father who didn't live to see my accomplishments.

Love in the Moonlight”

It's midnight …

warm, with a cool breeze

gently blowing through the open window.

The moon is full and shines like the sun.

Standing near the window,

bathed in moonlight,

I wait for my lover to come.

The room is filled with the scent of roses …

blood red roses … from my lover

… to enjoy until he arrives.

Although I am alone,

I can feel your presence all around me.

I hear the door slowly open … then close.

I stand very still, silently, listening …

I hear you slowly walk closer,

I feel you behind me, yet we have not touched.

Gently you put your hand on my shoulder.

I feel a chill run down my spine.

You take another step forward,

moving your hand across my shoulder to my neck.

Slowly, you put your arm around my waist

and pull me gently to you. Our bodies touch.

My white satin gown is cool to the touch,

but the body beneath it is full of fire and warm.

I can hear you breathing

and feel your warm breath on my neck.

I tilt my head slowly as you kiss my shoulder,

Moving up to my neck, you kiss me again.

With each kiss, the desire grows.

Slowly, I turn and look up at you.

Our eyes are filled with passion,

we smile, but say nothing.

When our eyes met,

we did not need to utter a sound.

Our bodies touch and we feel

our hearts beating, together.

I gently kiss your chest.

I cradle your face in my soft hands.

Our lips, wet and waiting …finally meet.

The world could stop around us,

we would not notice.

We are lost in each other.

I pull away, then you kiss my neck,

you move down to my chest,

gently, slowly, you kiss my breasts,

tantalizing me more.

You slowly remove my gown and lay me down.

I reach for you and pull you down to me.

The heat of our bodies

tells of the fire that burns in both of us.

I ask, "Make love to me please?"

… You smile and say, "Forever."

More kisses …more caresses …

Exploring every inch of each other.

The passion must be satisfied …

We make love, repeatedly, like never before.

Neither of us dreamt it could be like this.

Ecstasy …

Finally being together, never apart,

Lying in each others’ arms,

We fall asleep … and dream

Another dream … of another time, together.

…Enchanted dreams do come true…

"Eyes of Blue"

How soft is his smile

And strong are his hands,

A calm, soft spoken voice

Yet firmly a man.

Attentively he listens

To every single word,

In awe he always stands

His stature tall and firm.

Yet it is his eyes of blue

That bore a hole in my soul,

He must see my heart

Sadly broken and cold.

I will not allow

My heart to rule my head,

It would end in sheer tragedy

And we'd both wish we were dead.

So I befriend this charming man

I see him as much as I can,

But I'm sure my face

Conveys my deepest emotion.

Unconsciously I've given him the idea

I would concede to some notion,

Sometimes he stumbles when he speaks

As though he's afraid of my "potion".

A witch I am not and never shall be

Although some do readily agree,

Just look into my deep, dark eyes

And a passionate spell shall be cast upon thee.

"A Vampyre's Kiss"

You hear me in your mind, calling to you. ‘Come to me ... You can't resist it any longer. I need you, your life and your blood.’

Standing in front of the fireplace, you stare into the flame, wondering why you are here. The room is dark … the fire illuminating the room in a strange way. Shadows everywhere. Standing in the darkness, I watch you, you're every movement. Lying in a dark corner is my world, lined with red velvet ... my tormented existence.

I have summoned you here. You are not like all the others. I need you … yes! I want you to share my tortured immortality. I chose you, and you have no choice.

Slowly I move out of the shadows as you glance up from your trance. Looking at you my eyes shine with the firelight. The gold pentacle hanging from my neck shines like fire.

You look at me like a lost child. Before this night is over, you will never be lost again.

Quickly, your expression changes. As I come closer, you see the burning passion that I have brought to you.

You raise your hands to embrace me, but I stop you. I am cold to touch, even though my heart is on fire. I touch your face gently as I kiss you. You begin to tremble, not from fear, but excitement.

As I move my hands down your body, you look at me with a longing in your eyes I have only seen once before … many lifetimes ago.

The fire burns brighter as I lead you to the bed. Draped in velvet and satin, I slowly lay you down. Our eyes never part; the sight of each other is enchanting. Your heart is beating with the lifeblood I need. As I descend toward you, you turn your head from me, knowing what I want.

I kiss your chest then slowly move toward your neck. It is warm, enticing … erotic. I kiss your neck over and over, passion building with every touch. My need is overwhelming … I need your blood. Backing away, I look at you one last time. "Join me?"

You reply, “Forever.”

My fangs sink quickly into your warm flesh as I drain the blood from you. Feeding on your blood I free myself and condemn you. You moan, not from pain, but of pleasure. I can feel the warm blood flowing through me, as your body grows cold. But I can not take it all … I must stop!

As I rise you look at me, and smile. With blood dripping from my face, I kiss you again. I see your body drenched in blood, but the fire from my eyes is now in yours. Lost within ourselves we must become one. You must drink. My blood now flows for you. Inhuman blood now surges in our veins. Monstrous desire has overtaken us.

It is finished. As the sun begins to rise, we must seek shelter from the light. In our shadowy existence, we are lovers, condemned for all eternity.

"January 16, 1985"

Three months pregnant, suddenly and without warning,

my water broke. My doctor advised me to get to the hospital.

Knowing something was tragically wrong, I didn’t want to believe it.

Once at the hospital I was admitted and examined.

My unborn child, whose heartbeat I had heard only a week before,

had for some unknown reason, died. Devastated,

I could not believe it was gone. The hours passed slowly

as I waited for it to end.

That evening my doctor advised me of my options.

The possibility of infection grew by the hour,

It could take hours, days, weeks

or even months before my body rejected it.

The longer it lasted the more risk I took.

With my water gone, and the heartbeat gone,

there was only one choice I could make.

I cried for hours, with pen in hand I finally signed the consent form.

The nurse took it away and the sleepless night passed.

In the early morning of January 17, 1985,

I was taken to the operating room.

One last time they listened for the baby’s heartbeat, but heard nothing.

As I stared into the overhead lights,

the sleep producing drug began to take effect.

The room seemed to pull away from me

as I lost consciousness.

An hour and a half later, back in my room,

I slowly regained consciousness. It was over.

The baby was gone. I never knew what it was,

it was too early to tell.

It was my second child, I had felt it move,

if only for a short time. January 18, 1985

I went home to recover.

Empty-handed, I wondered if I would ever have another.

"January 16, 1988"

The day began very early, actually before dawn.

Again my water broke, but this time I was different.

Twelve days from my due date, it had been a difficult pregnancy.

Constantly rising blood pressure increased possible complications.

Common cold turning into bronchitis then pneumonia,

which could not be treated because of the pregnancy.

By 7 a.m. I was in the hospital, hooked up to monitors,

IV tubes stuck out of my arm, blood pressure cuffs nearby.

The hours passed slowly and nothing more happened.

I remembered what the doctor had said from the last time,

about the risk once the water is gone.

The afternoon passed and still nothing.

The baby was not in the right position and had to be turned.

By late evening, nothing had changed except the baby’s heartbeat.

It was slowing down…it was in distress.

When this was discovered, the induced labor forced delivery.

The contractions began, increasing in intensity.

By early morning January 17, 1988, the contractions

were continuous as the baby’s heartbeat continued to decrease.

On oxygen now, I begged for a cesarean section.

The doctor could not do it. My blood pressure

was too high and to cut me open now,

I would bleed to death before they could get me closed up.

I was worn out and unable to breathe without oxygen.

At 6:19 a.m., I had my third child, Chelsea Amanda Steen.

8 lb. 4 oz., 19 ½” long. A healthy baby girl

who was yelling at the world

before her birth completed.

She didn’t need to be coaxed to cry, her lungs were fine.

Chelsea is now 21 and still yelling at the world.

My baby is grown up now

And I am so very proud of her!

In 1985, it was a sad day, but not forgotten.

In 1988, this day made up for it in more ways than anyone would imagine.

God gave me back what I had lost three years to the day,

Something I will never, 'til my dying day, forget!

Only One Night”

“Finally, this week is over,” Alison said as she threw her keys and purse on the kitchen counter. “… Especially this day, he finally has some time to kill and so do I. Maybe he’s left me a message?”

There were always little messages left on the computer, whenever he thought about her. Long orations, or the funny smilies, or just “miss you, hon.” He never left a day go by without some contact. Her interest piqued, she had arranged for this meeting and he anxiously agreed. He was married, so was she, neither of them really happy or content with their situations. Somehow they had found each other, and their chance meeting had led to feelings neither of them had expected.

Opening the computer, patiently waiting as the windows opened and closed, she took off her coat and shoes. As AOL loaded and opened she smiled … mail … of course … it was never empty. Searching the long list she found many names, but only one mattered right now.

“Yes, here it is…” Opening the email, it read, ‘miss you, later, xxxx S’. Smiling Alison replied to an empty room, “Yes … later!”

Lost in the email she forgot what time it was. “I’ve got to get ready, I can’t be late…” she spoke anxiously as she quickly stripped and jumped into the shower. As the water cascaded over her it felt like hands, his hands, caressing her when they finally met. Standing in the steamy fog, thinking out loud, “If only you were here now…” Laughing at the thought she quickly turned the water off. Hearing the answering machine click off, she grabbed a towel and wrapped herself in it. “I hope it wasn’t Kel, she knew I had plans tonight.” Wondering who called she reached for the machine. The red light was blinking, signaling a message. She pushed the play button. There was a pause at the beginning, no sound, then a deep voice … his voice … a message she hoped she wouldn’t receive.

Listening carefully she played it over and over again. “Hey Hon … bad news for later, I’m working late, I can’t get away … have to make it another night … call me?” The message was short and sweet. Was he really working late, or did he just want out? Alison had to know, she would know … before the night was over.

“The message means nothing…” she spoke while her thoughts drifted back to this unforgettable stranger. Sitting on the bed alone, “He won’t forget this night … I won’t let him. But I have to get ready, now.” Reaching for the stereo, the music began, softly playing in the background. “Strange Magic…” hearing it again, the violins, the driving bass, the pounding drums, it still sent chills down her spine. “He’s too young to remember it, and too young for me … I'm too old, but he insists I'm not. Ok, let’s see, what should I wear, something sexy? Or sophisticated? What would he like?” Alison asked herself aloud. “This is perfect … my favorite…” she smiled envisioning his reaction.

The music played on…“Starlight”, “Sweet Talkin’ Woman”… the CD repeated over and over, playing into oblivion. She heard it, but her mind was lost in other thoughts … thoughts of him. Looking in the mirrored door she turned and inspected her reflection. “Yes! Perfect! Now, my eyes … they have to be just right … dark and penetrating, to reach deep into his soul...” she whispered as she turned from the mirror, satisfied with the reflection she saw.

Looking deep into her own eyes, she finished her makeup …must be light and natural. Now, another difficult choice, “Which perfume would he like? I don’t know, but this one always turns heads, and I love it anyway…” she whispered as she reached for the smallest bottle. Made of frosted glass, capped in blue and gold with a black tassel hanging from the bottleneck. Spraying just enough to hint at the scent she began. First, behind her ears, then across her shoulders, inside her wrists, behind her knees, and finally between her breasts. Hoping she’d hit all the right places, a devilish smile crept across her lips. As her tongue moved across her lips she tasted sweet, sensuous honey.

Walking through the bedroom, Alison picked up her keys and handbag, and walked out the door. “This night is mine … no one is home to stop me, not this time.” As she approached the car, she turned back. “This is only one night … I must come back here, and go on,” she said quietly to herself. As she started the engine, she looked in the rearview mirror and smiled. Inserting the CD, the music began again as Alison slowly pulled away.

*

A soft knock on the office door and a voice is heard, “Mr. B, are you still here?”

“Yes, I’m trying to get caught up on some work, that’s all. I’m waiting for a phone call,” Steve replied.

“OK, just checking to see what offices had to be left unlocked,” the night guard replied.

“I shouldn’t be too much longer,” Steve answered. As the guard closed the door, Steve wondered how long he should wait. Would she return his call? Had he really hurt her by canceling their rendezvous? It was important, more than she would ever know. She was special. He had never met anyone like her, and probably never would again. He didn’t want to lose her, he couldn’t.

Staring into the blank computer screen, Steve could see her face. The pictures she sent him were all he had to hold on to. “I need more, much more, but will I ever…” he said shaking the images from his mind. “I have to get out of here, now!” Shutting down the computer, he grabbed his coat, turned off the office lights and walked out the door locking it behind him. Calling to the guard as he passed his desk, “I’m done, the office is locked, I’ll see you in the morning.”

“ ‘Night, Mr. B, have a good evening.” Walking through the electronic door into the cool night air, he wondered, ‘Where is she now?’

*

Stopping at the curb Steve glanced across the street into the dimly lit parking lot. Several cars were still there; his sat alone in the back row. Crossing the street, he walked slowly toward his car. It was dark, but still enough light to see around the lot. At the far end, parked alone was an unfamiliar car. Emerging from the black Mercedes was a woman. This was not the right section of town, or the right time of day for a woman to be alone. As she stepped out of her car, he moved cautiously toward her. Steve couldn’t help but wonder what she was doing here. “May I help you?” he asked uncertain of her response.

Slowly she turned to face him. Smiling, her eyes aglow, she spoke softly, “Hello, Steve … did I surprise you?”

Steve could not respond, his eyes frozen on this woman. Her hair was long mahogany brown. Her skin was pale and clear. Her ears were lined with gold. She was dressed in a sheer red silk blouse, vaguely covering the red lace bra beneath it, unbuttoned just low enough to reveal her sensuous figure. Her black leather skirt fit snugly slit high to show off her thighs. Her calves were muscular, aided by the tilt of her platform shoes that fastened around her ankles. On her right ankle, a gold bracelet shimmered in the dim light. As he reached for her hand, she raised it to him. Her hand was soft and warm; her nails manicured to perfection, painted flame red to match her revealing blouse. Gold bracelets and rings, and a gold wedding band. Yes, she belonged to another, but at this moment in time, she was his. Steve’s eyes moved across her body slowly as he memorized every curve. Hanging from a frail necklace, lying between her breasts, something he remembered from their first conversation ... her gold dragon. Seeing this, he knew it was her, the one he longed to be with.

Raising his glance to meet hers, he smiled. “Yes, Alison, I am surprised. You didn’t phone, I didn’t know what to think…” the words tumbled out.

“This is our night, I didn’t want to lose it,” Alison replied. Her voice was soft, soothing and sensuous. “I would like to see your office,” she added hesitantly.

“Sure, let’s go in, it’s warmer inside than it is out here,” Steve responded pleasantly. Taking her by the hand they walked back across the street and into the office building.

“Back so soon?” the guard asked.

“Yes, but we won’t be long.” Steve replied. Together they walked down the hall to his office. Unlocking the door, he turned on the light. “Please, go in.”

Alison stepped into the office and moved silently to the door across the room. “This is your office?”

“Yes, would you like to see it?”

“Yes,” she said. Steve was unsure of what she intended to find as he followed her into the dark office. The light from the outer office illuminated the room strangely. She moved toward the desk, stopped and dropped her keys and bag. As she turned toward him, she sat on the edge and reached for him. Her soft hand caressed his face, sending chills through him. Her eyes, dark and enchanting, cast their spell.

“What perfume are you wearing, you smell delicious…” Steve asked as his heartbeat increased.

“Far Away Fantasy, my dear ... am I yours?” she said with a smile. Leaning toward her, his hands cradled her face.

“Yes…” he whispered softly. Their eyes met, forever lost in this moment, their first kiss ... filled with passion and desire...

*

The kiss awakened desires they had long forgotten. Steve pulled back slowly as his hands gently caressed Alison’s face.

“Are we alone?” Alison asked softly, “Will the guard come back?”

“No, he won’t disturb us…” Steve replied with a smile.

“So, where do we go from here?” Alison asked devilishly, looking up at him. His smile made her shiver, his blue eyes overflowing with desire yet to be fulfilled. He was tall, dark and handsome, like the old saying, but it was true. And he was hers tonight, to do with as she wished. How she had dreamed of a night like this. In the arms of a man more powerful than herself, yet she had the power over him. As he moved closer, she slowly lifted her leg between his thighs. Higher and higher, slowly teasing him, torturing him. Reaching for Alison’s leg, Steve moved his hand slowly from her ankle, up her calf to her thigh. Searching cautiously his hand slipped beneath her leather skirt, feeling the hot skin it barely covered.

Steve moved still closer, raising his hand to Alison’s face once more. Running his fingers through her hair, he looked down. His eyes, as blue as the sky on a clear day, looked through her. Leaning back, his hand moved down her chest and began to unbutton her blouse. One button at a time as he revealed the red lace beneath it. Cut low to expose the curves of her breasts, the lace was transparent. As Steve leaned forward to kiss Alison’s neck his sensuous journey began. Slowly he moved lower … small kisses, his wet tongue and his hot breath flooded over her taunted flesh. Kisses that brought arousing sensations to her breasts … her nipples erect, waited for his touch. Through the lace he kissed her breasts, making her shudder. His gentle touch drove her crazy as her thoughts were overtaken with desire.

Slowly he rose and backed away. Slipping down from the desk, Alison stood before him. Her hands moved slowly over the fabric of his pants. Higher and higher they moved, feeling his desire build with every breath he took. Gently she pulled his shirt up to reveal his chest. Kissing his chest she teased him more. Alison looked into Steve’s eyes and smiled, as she turned and walked toward his desk. She turned on the computer and waited. “There is something I want you to see,” Alison said shyly. Standing behind her, Steve leaned forward and kissed her shoulder. Alison closed her eyes as the feelings rushed through her again. She quickly turned and asked, “Please Steve, sit down,” as she moved the chair toward him. Looking at her, he wondered…why the computer?

The computer light shone in his face as he sat in his chair. Steve pulled Alison toward him. His hands slowly lifted her skirt, revealing her scant, black string bikinis. As she moved closer, the ache, the desire became unbearable. Running her fingers through his hair, she looked into his eyes and smiled. “This is only the beginning…” she replied, as she turned back to the computer … the screen was filled with roses and hearts…signed “xxxx A”.

*

Steve smiled as he saw the “message” she’d left for him. “Are you ready?” she asked.

“Ready for what?”

“Let’s get out of here, I have the whole evening planned. Meet me at the hotel we talked about, in an hour, OK?” Alison said anxiously without giving any more information. Steve signed off and shut down his computer.

Steve stood and wrapped his arms around her and smiled. As he kissed her cheek softly he replied, “Yes, anywhere, as long as it’s with you…”

Alison picked up her keys and handbag and Steve turned off the lights in the outer office. He closed and locked the door behind them. They walked quickly, hand in hand, past the guard desk and through the front door.

They crossed the street and approached their cars. “Give me an hour, then meet me there,” Alison said softly.

Steve kissed her gently and replied, “Drive safely…”

Driving separately Alison pulled out of the lot and disappeared down the highway. Steve waited patiently, checking his watch. The hour passed slowly but finally his wait was over. As he started the car, the music began…soft music, strings … piano…saxophone…music to change a mood … music to change the night.

*

Driving down the long abandoned highway, Alison saw the lights of the city ahead of her. As she approached, the buzz of the nightlife rang in her ears. Turning into the hotel parking lot she pulled up to the entrance and two men approached the car. One asked for the keys as she stepped out. The other asked if she had any luggage.

“Only one, in the back seat,” Alison responded. The second man retrieved the bag before the car was taken away.

“Follow me ma’am, I will take you to the desk, so you may check in,” the attendant said politely.

“Thank You, I have reservations,” Alison replied softly. They moved through the doors and approached the desk. Handing the clerk a note, he looked up and smiled.

“Yes, ma’am, your room is ready.”

The hotel was grand. White marble floors covered with oriental rugs. The curved staircase leading up to the rooms was lined with brass railings. Grecian columns at the base of the stairs reached the mirrored ceilings. As the clerk guided Alison to her room she said, “This is a gorgeous place. I am expecting a visitor. Please, when he arrives, bring him to my room? He’s tall, and his name is Mr. Brown. I would really appreciate this. This is the only night we have before my trip. He should be arriving within the hour.”

“Yes, of course I shall,” the clerk replied with a smile. Reaching her room the clerk opened the door and set down her bag. Handing her the key he kindly said goodnight and departed. Closing the door behind him Alison’s vision returned…of the dark stranger she is waiting for … “I must get ready…”

*

The drive seemed endless as Steve turned into the hotel lot and parked his car. Entering the hotel, he walked to the desk. The clerk, raising his eyes from his work, smiled. “Mr. Brown?” he asked.

“Yes,” Steve replied, surprised.

“Please follow me, your lady is waiting in her room,” the clerk said.

Together they walked up the marble stairs. As they reached the room, the clerk pressed the call button and inquired, “Ma’am, Mr. Brown has arrived.”

Hearing his voice over the intercom, Alison replied, “The door is open, come in.”

“Thank you,” Steve said as he shook the clerk’s hand. Opening the door, he entered slowly and closed the door behind him.

The room was breathtaking. Softly lit with candles, the scent of roses filled the air. The furnishings were elegant. Looking around the room, he saw her. Standing near the balcony door, looking out into the night, she was dressed in a black kimono, the image of an eclipsing moon embroidered across her back.

“Come in Steve, I’ve been waiting for you…” she said softly.

As he moved across the room he passed a king size bed covered in black satin, showered with red rose petals. As he grew nearer, she turned and smiled. Her eyes aglow with the candlelight, she moved toward him. Her kimono fell seductively from her shoulders, revealing the black lace teddy that barely covered her sensuous body. Finally he reached her. Steve gently touched her face. As she leaned toward him, she closed her eyes and felt the desire building within her.

“I missed you! Just an hour was too long…” he said as his heart began to beat faster.

“But we are together now, at least for this one night. We must make the most of this time, we may never have it again,” Alison said as she put her arms around him. Steve pulled her close and softly kissed her shoulder. He moved slowly higher to her neck and reached her lips. Their passion was stronger than either had imagined. The kiss grew deeper and their breath grew rapid. “I want to feel the fire Steve, all of it, over and over until the dawn tears us apart…and we go back to reality. This is only a fantasy, yours and mine, for tonight…” Alison stated as her desire peaked. Lifting her into his arms, Steve carried her to the sensuous bed. Lying her gently on the rose petals, her kimono fell from her body. Steve removed his shirt and jeans and moved over her. Their eyes were lost in each other. Moving from her ankles, his hands caressed her calves, moving higher to her thighs. Heat radiated from her, the desire had become overwhelming. Reaching for him, her hands caressed his naked body. Moving higher, her nails tracing a path across his breasts, the sensations drove him wild. He moved his hands from her thighs, across her stomach and found her aroused breasts. He leaned forward and kissed them. Kisses filled with passion and desire. As their breath grew rapid he moved over her. Her hands moved to his face as she spoke, “Make love to me, Steve … someone that wants you … needs you … I have dreamed of your touch…” Alison said anxiously.

She reached for him and pulled him down on top of her. Skin touched skin, hearts beat together. Their kisses became wild and untamed. The heat of their passion drove them on. Pulling the kimono from her he exposed her naked flesh. Steve unsnapped her teddy and slowly he pulled the black lace garment higher revealing the soft body beneath it. Running his hands over her skin, her body began to move. Involuntary movements … of passion. Teasing her he searched … he moved slowly … her breath grew shallow and more rapid. “Please Steve…” were her only words. Her body shook with pleasure as his hot breath flooded over her. The heat of his skin was erotic. Gently, she caressed him.

Removing the teddy Alison threw it to the floor. Steve traced a path from her thighs to her breasts, across her neck to her lips. Looking down at her, he smiled. “Yes … but this will not be the end. This night is only the beginning…” he said as he drove into her. Alison gasped with pleasure and moved with him, burying him deep inside her. Over and over the passion peaked and subsided … until the dawn broke. Lying in each other’s arms, they were satisfied…

*

Standing together outside the hotel, they said goodbye. A kiss, an embrace, their eyes met like strangers. The sun rose from the horizon as they parted and returned to their other lives, until their desire and passion needed to be satisfied once more ...

"Awakened"

Awakened from a deep sleep, I slowly open my eyes. Darkness surrounds me, I hear nothing but the beating of my heart and the deafening silence. I pull the warm blanket around me as I slowly turn and close my eyes again. I reach for you. The bed where you once lay is cold. Why have you left me? Gently I touch your pillow. You are gone, but as I pull it to my face, your scent remains. I wrap myself in what I have left of you as my thoughts return to the hours before …

Lying on the bed wrapped in satin, I wait. I watch with anticipation, your every movement as you approach me. Slowly you move above me as I reach for you. My hands touch your face gently as I look into your eyes. A smile creeps across my lips as you lower your body to meet mine. With your arms around me, our hearts beat as one. Your breath mingles with mine as our lips touch. Gently you kiss me. The sweet intoxicating smell of passion surrounds us. Your lips are warm and wet, an invitation . . .

Searching, your kisses move across my face. Small biting kisses that send a chill through me. Reaching my ear I hear you breathe. As it quickens I touch your face, urging you on. Slowly your lips move to my neck . . . kissing, biting and sucking their way to my shoulders. The expectation . . .

Your body moves slowly lower, brushing over my aroused breasts. My nipples tingle, waiting for your touch. My heart beats faster as your lips move down my chest. I wrap my fingers in your hair and pull you toward me. Your tongue sweeps across my nipples, teasing me. “Harder, please,” I ask as you kiss them. Gentle kisses become deeper, more intense. Your hands move down to my waist and pull me to you. I feel you…hard between my legs. The ache pounds with every beat of my heart. The blood running through my veins burns …

Lower you move…Your tongue dancing over my stomach. Sensation swells as my body arches to meet your advances. For an instant, you look up and smile … your desire building with my own. Your hands glide over my body, feeling the need you have aroused. Your kiss makes my skin quiver as your tongue finds the most seductive places … slowly licking, sucking, tasting my desire for you …

You stop and back away, yearning to feel what I feel. Slowly I rise and move toward you. My hands caress your face. My lips, hot and wet, move over your chest. My tongue finds your breasts and gently moves over them. Your breath stops, lost in the sensations, but begins again, quickening with each kiss. As I move down over your stomach, you stand over me … protecting me …

My hands move over your hips, pulling you close to me. They move slowly around your thighs, finding you aroused and full of desire. My fingers move gently over your flesh. My kisses slowly follow my fingers as they search. My lips, soft, wet and hot, taste your desire…you are lost to me, as I am to you ...’

I rise from the bed and quickly wrap myself in the cool sheet of black satin. A chill of fear covers me. Where have you gone? Why did you leave? The room is still dark, but I see down the hall, a dim light coming from beneath the door. I move cautiously down the hall and open the door. No, you have not left me. I have found you, sitting, staring into your computer. I ask softly, “What are you looking for?”

Without turning you reply, “You …” I smile as you slowly turn towards me.

“I am not there now … I am here, with you,” I say softly, shaken by your response.

“I know …but here is where I found you, and I can’t lose you …”

I turn away and respond, “You never will …”

I hear you as you get up and move toward me. I feel your hands touch me. You turn me around and caress my face. Our eyes meet, and you ask, “Are you happy?”

“Yes,” I reply. You lean down and kiss me gently, as you wrap your arms around me. I look up at you again. “I need you … I want you … make love to me again, please … never stop …”

You smile and reply, “Forever …”

"Sleepless Night"

I wrap my naked body

in the warm blankets,

trying desperately to end

the cold that has overtaken me.

The air around my exposed flesh

is stale and unfeeling.

My eyes are wide open

but they see no visions tonight,

only the cluttered room surrounding me.

The pillows cradling my

weary head are soft.

They invite restful sleep,

but it does not come.

My body aches,

longing for the loneliness to end.

The emptiness I feel

is overwhelming.

My heart beats,

but it is not at peace.

My mind wanders aimlessly,

searching for thoughts to

free me from this unforgiving prison.

I pretend you are here,

lying close beside me.

Warmth radiates from you,

like rays of sunshine

on a mid-summer day.

Safe in your arms,

your love surrounds me.

Dreams of you

haunt my elusive sleep.

I fear sleep;

the dreams are so real.

I close my eyes

and see your face.

I listen and I hear

your voice, your laughter.

In my dreams,

we are happy together.

The love I have searched for

I have found at last.

However, the happiness is fleeting.

The dreams suddenly awaken me

to the reality of my sad, lonely life.

I cry silently and alone,

wishing it were you beside me now.

Tears flow freely, but they do not

wash away the pain.

Sleep…sweet dreams

please come to me now!

I need your protection.

Dreams are my salvation

from the degradation and abuse.

I want to sleep.

I need to dream and

never awaken to this horror again.

I live my life for a dream,

where my love is with me,

forever…

Love … an Unexplained Emotion …”

Something we think we can’t live without,

But what is it really?

An emotion touching the gray areas of our lives,

Never black or white.

It can appear in many forms for different reasons.

A word easily said, without regard to the consequences.

A word with so many meanings,

So many feelings attached to it.

The true meaning is vague.

It can be contentment,

Need or desire.

Fueled by passion, it can become unmatched ecstasy.

Lost in uncertainty it causes anxiety and pain.

It opens a heart and also tears it apart.

Leaving the mind and soul vulnerable,

At a loss, unable to overcome the obstacles.

Life should be loved for itself alone.

People should be loved for who they are,

Not expecting anything from them.

Love hurts everyone, the why is unexplained.

Close yourself off from the feelings,

Avoiding the pain and hurt,

Denying your heart,

The only means of protection.

Hide away your thoughts,

Do not show your feelings,

The vultures that circle nearby,

Will be the victors in the end.
