For
my wife Jacki, my son Brady and my daughter Ava.
Writing for me has always been a very personal thing. I rarely shared the things I wrote with anyone, and I kept them hidden away. Recently though, I came across a story. It was about a painter who was creating beautiful pieces of art but wasn’t sharing them with anyone. A friend asked him, ‘So why are you painting them?’In a way, I was that artist. I was writing pieces-- pieces that I thought were good, but I was keeping them hidden. So then, why was I writing them? One other thing that happened recently is that I came to realize that the talent was a gift from God-- a gift that can be used for His glory.
My life has been good for the most part, although I’ve experienced a few, what I call, detours. I would have a plan, and something would come up that would set me on a completely different path. The most major of these happened Sept 26th 1998. On that day, I was driving to meet the woman who would turn out to be my wife, and I had a car accident. That accident broke my neck at the shoulder level and landed me in a wheelchair. I am still blessed though, in that I’m able to use my arms and hands. In the almost 13 years since the accident, I’ve learned a lot about myself, about God, and how He works in my life.
I don’t know the reason why my life has taken the path that it has, but I know that every step I’ve taken, every push I’ve made, I’ve not been alone. I know that God has a plan for me, a use for me, and a chance for my life to be used for His glory. I also know that God is there beside me no matter what happens, and with His love, His strength, and through His grace and mercy, my life is complete in Him. I hope that you, the reader, will find God’s comfort and His strength in the words in this book and also see how He has worked in my life.
All
I Need
Alone,
my strength fails
Alone, I fall away
My efforts are in vain
and
My joys bring only pain.
Without Your hands on
me
Without Your strength around me
I have nothing
I am
nothing.
Lord, in you I have strength
Lord, with you I'm
not alone
Your blessings rain down on me
Your grace in answer
to my plea.
With Your hands on me,
Your strength around
me
I have all I need
You are all I need.
The
Battle Within
My life is a
battle with
my soul the prize.
Two seek my life to rule.
One
for it to save, one to cause my demise.
Temptations prove the
strongest test.
For not with slings or arrows will he strike.
No,
but with riches untold, or your dreams fulfilled.
This Snake, he
comes to turn you in the dark of night.
When at our weakest we
lay
and feel in vain our cries of need.
When hope seems but a
distant chance.
This, this is when Satan comes, our hearts to
mislead.
For with a silver tongue, and silken words
the
Devil is a tricky foe.
Each whisper sounds as pure as gold
but
held against God’s light, it is only mold.
We need never
fear God’s light
no matter our sins or shame.
With the
sacrifice of Jesus Christ
all are made pure in God’s holy
name.
And never do we walk alone,
never from us will God’s
face turn.
For when we turn back to him
we will find God
standing firm!
Searching
Searching
for truth
Wounded here I stand
Looking for healing
But I am
just a man.
I'm broken in spirit
I'm wounded in truth
For
His glory is the healing
His sacrifice the proof.
Love and
strength beyond measure
My vessel overflows
Grace and mercy
beyond giving
Works to make me whole.
Searching for
truth
With His help I stand
Healed for His glory
His
creation, man.
The
Bridge Across
On eagle's
wings we fly
because He gave His Son,
To us.
To
die.
Redemptions found on the cross
where our Savior
died.
His loved poured out a crimson stain
as the world
cried.
Many watched in fear,
for when His breath was
spent.
The sky grew dark
and then the veil was rent!
His
death became a bridge across,
a way for us to know.
A Father's
love made possible
by the Son's sacrifice below.
But death
for Him was fleeting,
and risen, He gave life to those who
sin.
Any who in Him believe, for them,
a new life begins!
Forgiveness
The
Bible says blood’s required
to wash sin away.
And though we
try our best
we all fall short,
and are flawed on judgment
day.
Sin arrived from the start
beginning with Eve’s
fall.
For when the serpent tempted her
She ate the fruit
-
brought sin to all.
But Adam was not blameless,
for he
too fell from grace.
And seeing what sin had wrought,
turned
away from God
to hide his face.
What can we do?
We who
seek Your face.
What can we do?!
We who need Your love,
who
hide in our disgrace.
Alone, we have no hope,
no matter how
we try.
But God did not abandon us.
It took a sacrifice,
His
Son had to die.
His death; His blood -
Given for our
sins.
Offered in perfect love,
and only with acceptance.
Can
new life begin.
It’s a choice we make,
a choice to be
baptized.
To join Jesus in His sacrifice.
Offering our life
our
symbolic demise.
This choice assures
that with Him we
live.
His child on this earth.
And if our steps falter,
our
sins, He will forgive.
.
Sacrifice
Required
Only with the
sacrifice of everything
can I truly have it all.
Only with true
submission,
can I really hear God's call
My weakness is His
strength
and my salvation is His plan.
Alone I am as
nothing.
With Him I make my stand
Now the World will assail
me
with temptations all around
The Devil's fight is a dirty
one
his tricks have no bounds.
His chains of silver and
locks of gold
seem pleasures when first revealed.
But closer
seen, the truth is clear
and I find the trap they concealed.
The
sacrifice of Jesus
brought the truth to light.
His promises
fulfilled
gives us strength in the fight
Now giving all for
His glory
I am given more than before.
All is done in His
name,
I am God’s weapon in this war!
I
Give Thanks
I give
thanks for all I'm given.
Both the good things and the bad:
for
the blessings You've bestowed
and the trials that I've had.
For
it's easy to be thankful
when the world seems bright.
And when
everything around me
is going exactly right.
It's when
clouds move in
and life's storms roll.
That’s when doubt
surfaces
and the Devil takes his toll.
It's then I must
remember
the promises I hold dear:
how God will always be a
shield,
a refuge in time of fear.
My source of strength,
a
comfort and my guide.
With Him is a perfect love
that only He
can provide.
So I truly thank you Lord
for everything You
allow.
The lessons that help me grow
and the blessings on my
brow.
Amazing
God
Blessed

Beautiful Lord
Wonderful Father
I love you
God
Perfect peace
Shelter in the storm
Endless

Thank you God
King of creation
Master of all
Alpha
and omega
I need you God
My comfort
My strength
My
salvation
My God
Thank you for taking time to read these words of mine. I truly
believe they were God inspired and I hope that as He’s touched me
with them, that perhaps they will have touched you in some way as
well. In the future I know that I will face challenges, and I also
know with God's help I will be able to conquer all that comes before
me. The outcome may not always be exactly what I want, but I know
that it will work out for the best. I think Cornelia "Corrie"
Ten Boom, a survivor of the Holocaust, said it best when she said
'Never be afraid to trust an unknown future to a known God'. These
words played a part in my life personally as they were shown to me as
I went through the rehabilitation part of my recovery following my
accident in 1998. Since then, I've thought of that quote often when
facing decisions, and uncertainties. Knowing that I have God on my
side gives me the confidence to face the future.
